Acupuncture

AcupunctureGreat Wall Of China

Acupuncture is an ancient system of healing developed over thousands of years as part of the traditional medicine of China, Japan and other eastern countries.

Acupuncture refers to the insertion of dry needles into the body at specifically chosen sites for the treatment of symptoms and conditions. These points are in very specific locations and lie on channels of energy or “Qi”.

The traditional view is that Qi flows around the body in channels. If the Qi is flowing freely the body is in a healthy state. If there is a problem energy stagnates. The stimulation of appropriate acupuncture points frees this stagnation. Modern science has shown that acupuncture stimulates the brain to produce natural pain relieving chemicals called endorphins which assist the body to heal itself and give pain relief.

Acupuncture is practiced throughout the world to provide safe and effective relief for a wide variety of conditions – including pain, anxiety, arthritis, eczema, sports injuries, hayfever, asthma, migraine, high blood pressure, menstrual disorders, intestinal problems. It is also used in the management of pregnancy, and for pain relief in childbirth.

All PhysioNow acupuncturists are fully qualified and licenced, and all are chartered physiotherapists.
